With up to date value of silver 2.5% of Annual Wealth

Allah’s name I commence with the most Kind the Merciful

May peace and blessings of Allah the exalted be upon the Prophet Muhammad his Family and his Companions

Allah Ta’ala says in the Holy Qur’an:

And establish prayer and pay the Zakat (Poor due) and bow with those who bow.
Surah al Baqarah

To pay Zakah is Fard Obligatory

Zakat is obligatory upon every adult Muslim male and female who possesses money over the nisaab (minimum required amount).

It is 2.5% of a person’s annual wealth. It is fard compulsory to pay it every year.

The Nisaab Wealth Owned to Make Zakat Obligatory

If a person has cash which can purchase him 612.35 grams or more of Silver, then zakat will be fard compulsory upon him.
This is equivalent to £496 Cash is calculated according to the nisaab of silver.

The Calculation:

1 gram of silver = £0.81 (value of silver on 05/03/25 in the UK)

Nisaab is 612.35 grams

612.35 grams x £0.81 = £496

So if a person possess £496 for a year Zakat is fard compulsory upon him.

Which is 2.5% of wealth.

Withholder of Zakat Salah (Namaz) are not accepted

The Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) said: ‘Allah Ta’ala has made four things obligatory and those
who only perform three of them and miss one then it will be of no use to them until all four things are not performed.
Salah (namaz), Fasting, Zakat and Hajj, and he stated that those who do not give Zakat, their Salah (namaz) is not accepted.

Tabrani, Abu Dawood and Imam Ahmad

Withholder of Zakat will be Bitten by a Snake

Narrated Abu Huraira that the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ), “Whoever is made wealthy by Allah
and does not pay the Zakat of his wealth, then on the Day of Resurrection his wealth will be made like a bald-headed poisonous
male snake with two black spots over the eyes. The snake will encircle his neck and bite his cheeks and say, ‘I am your wealth,
I am your treasure.’ ” Then the Prophet recited the holy verses:– ‘Let not those who withhold . . .’ (to the end of the verse).
(3.180).

Sahih Bukhari – (Book 24, Hadith 486)

The Withholder of Zakat will be Severely Punished in the Hell Fire

Abu Huraira reported that the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) said: If any owner of gold or silver
does not pay what is due on him, when the Day of Resurrection would come, plates of fire would be beaten out for him;
these would then be heated in the fire of Hell and his sides, his forehead and his back would be cauterized with them.
Whenever these cool down, (the process is) repeated during a day the extent of which would be fifty thousand years,
until judgment is pronounced among servants, and he sees whether his path is to take him to Paradise or to Hell. …:
“He who does an atom’s weight of good will see it, and he who does an atom’s weight of evil will see it”
